Our concept of diet does not generally include supplements, as we prefer to feed so well that all nutritional needs are being fulfilled through diet, leaving no need for supplements. There are exceptions in specific animals, health issues, age, diet , lifestyles etc…

SALMON OIL
 One exception that we see as a food source rather than a supplement is Salmon Oil. Salmon Oil in particular contains high concentration of the unsaturated Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, also called the “essential fatty acids”. Dogs and cats require just a as much Omega 3 fatty acid as Omega 6 fatty acid. Normally, the animals receive a fair amount of Omega 6 through their daily diet, but none of the important Omega 3 fatty acids. The health enhancing effects of the Omega 3 fatty acids depend on the two fatty acids: EPA and DHA, which are found in Salmon Oil in large amounts. These two fatty acids are found in fish and not in any other product. These essential fatty acids are life-sustaining nutrients for every organism, just like proteins and carbohydrates. They are necessary to strengthen the immune system and to keep the body’s cells elastic. Symptoms indicating a deficit of the essential fatty acids are: a weak immune system, metabolism malfunction, allergic illness, dry skin, itch and rash, skin inflammation and dandruff, broken hair and thick skin, reduced kidney activity, liver problems, and hampered growth. We ofer Kronch cold-pressed Wild Salmon Oil from Scandinavian waters which are lower in heavy metals than other area waters. Cold pressing is a gentle way of extracting the Salmon Oil without destroying the EFA’s. Normally, fish oil is extracted by boiling various fish destroying the EFA’s. These fish oils contain fatty acids that are much more saturated and because of this, they do not have the same enhancing properties!
